Teaching isn't easy.

Sometimes we have to remind ourselves why we do this. We have to find inspiration from wherever we can get it.

A couple of years ago I started setting myself daily reminders with little pick-me-ups that would remind me of why I do this and provide the motivation to keep going. I needed that through the tough days.

Deep down, we all know why we do this, but it's easy to forget. Some of us have got all the tools in the arsenal, but through the darkness of the winter term, we can still feel empty of inspiration and strategies.

I started setting simple quotes to repeat daily in my task manager. Later, I started reminding myself of classroom management and planning tools. The simple stuff that can be easy to forget in the thick of it all, especially after a late nights at parents' evening.

Then I decided that if these things can help me, why not set something up so other teachers can learn from them?

That's what The Teacher Email is all about.

In its essence, it's a simple daily email to read with your morning coffee. Some days it might remind you why you chose to do this from the start. Others, it might be a simple behaviour strategy to help you get through the day.

It could be completely different material from day to day, and other times we may spend a full week iterating and looking at variations on a particular theme.

You can keep the email, pin it, forward it to a colleague, or simply delete it if it doesn't resonate with you. Don't worry, I won't be offended.

And for what it's worth, I'm a full-time teacher based at a secondary school in the North of England, so I know what it's like to be in the trenches of teaching at times.

But you don't just have to be a school teacher be welcome here. Every single day we're teaching the world something about ourselves and the lives we live.
